The Town of Charlemont will hold a Special Town Meeting at Hawlemont Regional Elementary School on Saturday, November 14, 2020, at 6 PM. There are two warrant articles related to the municipal fiber network before voters to set up the accounting structure. In preparation for this meeting, you will find, attached, an overview of the status of the network and an expanded proforma budget for network operations.

Charlemont’s free high-speed wireless hotspot has been activated and is ready for public use! The coverage area is on the north side of the Hawlemont school building. You can connect to the networks WhipCityFiber_Wifi and WhipCityFiber_Wifi-5G. Neither network requires a password.
Comments closedThe Charlemont Broadband Committee and local residents have asked the Select Board to request our free high-speed public access wifi ‘hotspot’ for use during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Select Board has asked that the Hawlemont School be considered as the Charlemont location.

There are many streaming services, among them YouTube TV, SLING, Hulu TV, Apple TV and Amazon Fire (TV or Stick), that allow you to view many of the stations and programs available on Cable or via Dish/DIRECTV using an Internet connection.
In a recent item in his newsletter “Cord Cutter Weekly”, tech journalist Jared Newman discussed a new website, MyBundle.TV which allows you to enter your zip code, and select from a list of TV channels and programs you are interested in. It then displays a ranked listing of the streaming services available in your area.
