The phrase “Cutting the Cord” refers to delivering TV over the Internet (Streaming) rather than from a cable company package. There are many streaming services, among them YouTube TV, SLING, Hulu TV, Apple TV and Amazon Fire (TV or Stick), that allow you to view many of the stations and programs available on Cable or via Dish/DIRECTV using an Internet connection.
In a recent item in his newsletter “Cord Cutter Weekly”, tech journalist Jared Newman discussed a new website, MyBundle.TV which allows you to enter your zip code, and select from a list of TV channels and programs you are interested in. It then displays a ranked listing of the streaming services available in your area.
In earlier issues of this newsletter, he has also reviewed other similar sites for comparing streaming services, The Streamable (thestreamable.com) and Suppose.tv (www.suppose.tv). Mr. Newman particularly likes the MyBundle.TV site because it takes a more holistic approach of cord-cutting options looking “beyond the bundle as a way to save more money.”
In this newsletter, Mr. Newman also reviews streaming equipment and the latest industry news. If interested in following the topic, you can sign up for the newsletter on the website. There also other websites, such as Cord Cutters News, that contain a vast amount of information on streaming/streaming services.
Editor’s Note: This is the first in an occasional series of posts about alternative delivery of services over the internet.
