Representatives from Charlemont Broadband and owner’s project manager, Westfield Gas & Electric, met with the selected contractor, TriWire, to kick off the distribution network build! Focusing initially on Charlemont’s railroad and river crossings, the team began with a ride out to assess potential challenges.
The first part of the build will be to hang strand, which is the steel cable support for the fiber-optic cable. At the railroad crossings, a conduit will be placed to span the tracks so that repairs and maintenance can be done safely outside of the railroad right of way. Conduit will also be put in place at the river crossings to support ongoing network maintenance.
