Crews from TriWire have successfully crossed the Deerfield at the Shunpike with strand and fiber! After crossing the river, the construction team will proceed along another wooded easement. Charlemont has a LOT of easements!
Work is continuing to complete FSA 02 with fiber and MSTs. Upon completion of the construction in this fiber service area, the crews will move to the last FSA, FSA 03, dubbed the ‘ultimate FSA’ by at least one resident.
Splicing remains the highest area of concern delaying the release of FSA 05 due to splicing remediations needed prior to validation. The skilled labor and equipment to do this work have been hard to come by in Charlemont and representatives for the town have been working with our partners at Westfield Gas & Electric and TriWire to source additional splicing support. Once testing is complete is FSA 05, these splice teams will move to begin work in FSA 04.
