The installation of the core fiber management equipment that forms the heart of the Charlemont municipal fiber network has begun! Located in the network equipment enclosure in the town hall, the passive racks and optical equipment are being put in place by our partners at Westfield Gas & Electric (WG&E).
Our active electronics have been ordered and will be configured at the WG&E offices and delivered to Charlemont once the racks are ready. Charlemont has received a USDA grant to support the purchase of this core equipment.
The Emergency Management Department has committed to installing a generator at the town hall that will be used as backup power for the network hub.
