Charlemont has learned of its place in the queue for utility pole make-ready work from Verizon and National Grid. The expected completion dates are May 31, 2020, for National Grid and October 31, 2020, for Verizon.
These are important dates for our project as make-ready is the longest and most uncertain phase in the process, and completely outside of town control. As make-ready completes, Charlemont can build-out the fiber distribution network using the space created on the utility poles. These dates are later than our original estimated date of March 2020 but very encouraging given the delays to date.
With these dates in hand, Charlemont will be working with Westfield Gas and Electric on an updated project timeline and begin the process of selecting our contractor for building the distribution network.
