One hundred and ten homes and businesses, over 25% of all subscribers, have now been activated and are receiving service on the Charlemont municipal network!
Fiber service areas that include locations in the village center east through the Red Rose motel, with a few exceptions, are released for service and are being actively connected to the service.
Some have worried that adding new subscribers will impact performance for existing customers. This does not seem to be a concern at this time. Charlemont is continuously monitoring the overall network capacity at the hub as new subscribers are activated and these reports indicate that the network is using only about 20% of our total capacity on average with peaks up to 50% of total capacity. Each location is served by an individual fiber path to the hub, which is not impacted by the addition of new subscribers.
