Finishing roughly seven weeks ahead of schedule, Verizon has now licensed the use of the utility poles on all seventeen applications to Charlemont’s municipal network! This completion accelerates the next steps in the process: the inspection and remediation of the make-ready work and the relocation of the state’s MBI 1-2-3 middle-mile network fiber.
Work has already begun in Charlemont to move the state-owned fiber and appears to be progressing quickly. Our partners at Westfield Gas & Electic (WG&E) estimate the inspection and remediation of the licensed poles could take up to 60-90 days, but we are working closely with WG&E to try to shorten this window. We continue to make every effort to deliver services as soon as possible.
As the inspection and remediation are completed, our distribution network contractor, TriWire, can begin to run the fiber backbone.
