Danek Excavating and Burke Electric have completed the path preparation make-ready on Warner Hill Road! Underground conduit and two utility poles have been installed on a section of the road to allow the municipal fiber network to bypass a difficult to maintain section of aerial utilities that provides electrical and phone service to residents through the town of Heath.
Charlemont’s Highway Department supported the project by digging test holes that discovered ledge in the designed underground path. With this knowledge, the project was able to switch to the aerial solution for this stretch with the support of residents to reduce costs and project risk, as well as improve the ability to maintain the road moving forward. Volunteers from the Broadband Committee, Trevor Mackie and Bob Handsaker, and Scott Randall, a Warner Hill Road resident, worked together to fill these test holes to fully complete the project.
