Now that service is available in all areas of town, Charlemont has proactively doubled the backhaul capacity of the municipal network! This will also ensure that there will be plenty of extra capacity as summer residents return and seasonal businesses increase their usage. Increasing the municipal network’s connection to the broader internet will ensure continued exceptional performance in the busy months ahead.
Network performance is continually monitored and Charlemont receives weekly reports from the network operator, Whip City Fiber. Bandwidth is currently purchased on a month-to-month contract, providing the flexibility to adjust the amount of backhaul as the need arises. This ensures that backhaul capacity is never a limiting factor for network performance and that performance does not degrade as more households come online.
