The Charlemont installation subsidy for municipal broadband service will end on August 31, 2022. Each residence or business must be signed up during this subsidy period to qualify. Sign up now at whipcityfiber.com/charlemont or call Whip City Fiber at 413-485-1251.
Installation subsidies of up to $1400 for subscribers, $1000 for non-resident landlords, and $500 for property owners who aren’t ready to take service but want to make their home or business ‘internet-ready’ will expire at the end of August. Only subscribers will receive the interior wiring, non-subscribers who want the lower subsidies should sign-up by selecting ”I want fiber to my house but I am not ready to commit to service”. These locations will receive only a connection to the outside of home or business (a “cold drop”) with the interior wiring costs charged when service is activated. For most locations in town, these subsidies cover the full costs. Evaluations are risk-free: If the connection cost exceeds the subsidy amount, the applicant is notified and can choose whether or not to go forward with the installation.
Properties requesting installation after August 31, 2022 will be charged the full amount of cost to connect to the municipal broadband network, including the cost of travel for the technicians and any increases in the installation charges after Charlemont’s construction contract with the installation vendor has concluded.
