2021 was the year Charlemont’s municipal network came to life for many! Charlemont has completed most of the construction work for the network with splicing, testing, and validation continuing in both East and West Charlemont. Despite the challenges of the bankruptcy and acquisition of our distribution contractor, a major construction project in the village disrupting access to some parts of town, and labor shortages due to the ongoing global pandemic, 40% of the network is fully complete and over 30% of all subscribers are receiving service!
Comments closedTesting continues in East Charlemont as we enter the new year. Testing is expected to be completed in the next few weeks, followed by a two-week validation period. Once FSA 04 is deemed complete, Whip City Fiber will schedule installations with individual subscribers.
Comments closedTesting teams will begin in FSA 04, East Charlemont, on December 16! Dedicated crews from ITG Communications will be testing the network, estimated to take 2-4 weeks for this FSA. Once this step is complete there is a period of desktop validation and then the area can be released for service installation.
Comments closedSplicing has kicked off in FSA 02 in West Charlemont! As anticipated, splicing resources have been deployed to accelerate this part of the construction in the two remaining fiber service areas.
Comments closedCharlemont received welcome news from ITG Communications, the new owners of Triwire, our distribution network contractor. A dedicated splicer will be brought from the southern US to Charlemont after the Thanksgiving holiday and “will stay in town until the job is done” according to the TriWire team.
Comments closedThe splicing in FSA 04 in East Charlemont has finished! The next step is the fiber testing which will begin once these specialized teams are available. Availability of splicing and testing continues to drive the overall schedule.
