Our distribution contractor, TriWire, has completed the strand and fiber optic installation on the ‘Big Easement’ of FSA 05, a utility easement that runs for about a mile through the woods behind homes on Route 2 and Burrington Rd. Fiber teams accessed this area largely on foot pulling the strand and fiber into position then climbing each utility pole to attach the strand and fiber.
The construction remains on schedule with active work in the first three fiber service areas (FSAs). In FSA 01splicing continues intermittently, coordinating with the traffic calming work in the village center. In addition to the completion of the largest of the offroad easements, work in FSA 05 included new areas of fiber and MST installation. FSA 04 also saw fiber and MST installation last week on Route 2 and West Oxbow Road.
Each FSA goes through six sequential steps during our distribution network construction before installations can begin: attach strand, hang fiber, place MSTs, splice all of the fiber-optic cables together, test each fiber, and validate the whole FSA.
