Awaiting available splice teams in Fiber Service Area 01, TriWire has been working in FSA 05 and FSA 04. Starting with the Route 2 portions of these FSAs to avoid seasonal traffic, these construction teams have been focusing on the paved areas of both FSA 05 and FSA 04.
Each FSA goes through six phases: strand, fiber, MST installation, splicing, testing, and validation. FSA 01 has completed the first three phases. All paved roads in FSA 05 including Route 2, Burrington Rd, the south end of Mountain Rd, and Avery Brook Road have completed the strand phase and strand crews have continued through some paved portions of FSA 04. In coordination with the town Highway Department, TriWire teams are not working on dirt roads during mud season.
FSA 05 includes a large offroad section of the network affectionately known as ‘the big easement’ which will require fiber teams to install the strand, fiber, and MSTs by climbing each utility pole and accessing the area largely on foot. This work is weather-dependent and is expected to be scheduled in the next week or two.
Please give these hardworking crews a word of thanks if you see them in Charlemont!
