Information about the Charlemont Connect network construction.
Testing has wrapped up in both FSA 02 and FSA 03. Once the test files are uploaded to Whip City Fiber and there is sufficient confidence that the network will perform well for customers, FSA 02 and FSA 03 will be released. TriWire/ ITG managers, technicians, and volunteers are doing everything possible to bring this phase of the project to completion.

With the completion of the pole relocation work on the north end of Mountain Rd. in FSA 03, construction on the municipal fiber network is complete! With testing resources dedicated exclusively to Charlemont to get the work wrapped up, TriWire/ ITG continues to test the remaining network and remediate issues identified.

Installations are being scheduled in East Charlemont in parallel with the completion of the validation process and formal release. In an effort to accelerate the connections for customers in this fiber service area, Whip City Fiber will begin installations while also validating the network testing and will remediate any issues identified by validation prior to a formal release to the town.

Testing has been completed in East Charlemont and the validation is in progress! Validation typically takes 1-3 weeks to complete and is the final step before a fiber service area is released for installations! Customers will be called for home installations in the order that they signed up for service.

Splicing in FSA 03, north of the village center, has been completed, leaving only the areas blocked by the utility make-ready to complete the network construction! Testers have begun work in West Charlemont!

Testing continues in East Charlemont as we enter the new year. Testing is expected to be completed in the next few weeks, followed by a two-week validation period. Once FSA 04 is deemed complete, Whip City Fiber will schedule installations with individual subscribers.

Testing teams will begin in FSA 04, East Charlemont, on December 16! Dedicated crews from ITG Communications will be testing the network, estimated to take 2-4 weeks for this FSA. Once this step is complete there is a period of desktop validation and then the area can be released for service installation.

Splicing has kicked off in FSA 02 in West Charlemont! As anticipated, splicing resources have been deployed to accelerate this part of the construction in the two remaining fiber service areas.
