The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) is an FCC benefit program that offers qualifying households a $30.00 per month credit on their internet bill. Due to uncertain congressional funding, the FCC has announced that ACP could be terminated by the end of April 2024 and has announced guidelines for wrapping up the program.

If you have already signed up for service but have not yet scheduled your installation, please contact Whip City Fiber at 413-485-1251 or email customerservice@wgeld.org to make an appointment. To receive the full installation subsidy, the installation must be scheduled by September 30, 2022.
Comments closedIn order to receive up to $1,400 on the one-time installation costs to connect a home, apartment or business to the municipal fiber network, the Charlemont location must be subscribed for service no later than August 31! There are additional deadlines that need to be met as outlined in the Charlemont Connect Service Connection and Installation Policy. To ensure that the construction account can be fully closed out this fall, deadlines have been added to the policy to make the subsidy contingent on activating service by November 30.

Comments closedThe Charlemont Broadband Committee’s goal has been to build a fiber network for the town that can be fully self-sustaining, with all costs of the network, including all debt, paid for from subscriber fees. The project is on track to do just that. The network is up and running, the finances look good, and it is expected to be fully self-sustaining. This $3.5 million investment in the town has been done with no increase to the tax rate.
